Drip pan felt replacements

Hi

I've found different prices for drip pan felt replacements (for 221s and 301s) and I wondered if anyone knew if there was a big difference in the quality of the pads. I've found them from $3 to $8 for featherweight replacements.

Thanks for any info.

I make my own and use the old one as the template. That way I know what I'm getting and it's cheap. I use a few dabs of rubber cement to hold it down on the pan.

Thanks for the reply. Do you buy any special kind of felt or just something you can get at Joann's?

Nothing special, just not super thick. I've always used whatever I had on hand which I'm sure I bought at a Joannes type store.

Thanks, Candace! I'm going to try this because I have ....a "few" FW & 301s that could all use new felt. Now I'll just need to buy lots of new machine bed cushions.

Yes, I made the mistake of spending $$ for a few and then realized it wasn't hard to make my own and I similarly have 7 301's and a couple of FWs so it makes sense to DIY:>

The pads don't cost very much, but I've made mine for years out of plain old felt. Just trace around them and keep a few on hand. I don't like for them to get too yucky.

I'm definitely going to do this. I shudder to think how yucky some of the ones in my machines are as I haven't cleaned them up yet.
