DRs day Good Will score :-)
5 Attachment(s)
Had a doctors appointment this morning. Was pretty decent, I'm improving. Dr is a Korean guy in his late 20s and sharp as a Schmetz needle. Bent and twisted me in all directions. About twisted my head off checking my neck. But he seems to be satisfied in my progress so I won't complain.
After the Dr visit my wife said "Lets go look at that sewing machine I saw at Good Will yesterday." I said: "What are we waiting for?" The machine turned out to be a Singer 66-16 in a small cabinet with a tiny center tilt out drawer. The machine, 1 of 15,000 allotted 2-13-56 is almost mint. No needle rash. No rust. No scratches, no major ones anyway. No missing parts ... it even has it's slide plate AND a bobbin. Nothing broke, nothing bent. The white paint on the stitch length lever is unmarred as well. The only thing that might bother some folks is it's got a newer green cord and controller. Ugh. No manual or accessories either, but I can get those if I want to. The cabinet isn't as good as the machine, but it's no where near as bad as some I've got / had. And yes, here is some pics: I haven't tested it yet, but I will in bit. Oh yeah, we only paid $20.00 and tax for it. Not too shabby me thinks. Joe |
Nice catch. Will really clean up nice.

Nice! My 66 is in the same cabinet. I paid about the same for it. Enjoy!!
|
I think the machine has found a very good home with caretakers who will use her wisely!! She is a beauty!

Joe,
Be sure to post some pictures once you have it cleaned up! I'll bet it's going to be a beauty! Jeanette Frantz |
She's a beauty! Congrats on the great find!

Joe - Nice machine. More importantly: Glad you are feeling on the mend!
|
Pretty girl, Joe! You got a great deal...and you are feeling better, too.

Got the machine apart now, cleaning lint and junk out of the bobbin area and under the face plate. But before I did that I plugged it in, turned on the light and threaded it up. Sewed right off. The tensions are off, so I'll have to adjust them, but I don't think this machine needs anything but cleaning and oiling. Well, maybe a belt and bobbin tire.

It's great that you're on the mend Joe. You must be feeling better if you're buying a 66 in a cabinet.
What a beauty that machine is! One of the last model 66 ever by the look of it. Didn't realise they were making them right up to '56. I'd have paid $20 for it easily. That's a reverse stitch lever, isn't it? |
