Edison- 15 clone
 

Do any of you know anything about the Edison? It won't pick up the bobbin thread. I have the needle threaded just like all my other vintage 15's. I also changed the needle. Anyone have any ideas?

The needles on Japanese clones are placed flat to the right and threaded left to right. This is the opposite of the Singer 15-91 series.

I had an argument with one of those one time. Yup make sure the needle is in right and then make sure the thread goes the right direction. It will make your life a lot simpler.

I have an Edison clone. When I got it the case was filled with bent and broken needles. I was not as knowledgeable when I got it as I am now and had fits with it. The needle bar height was off, the presser foot height was off, and in trying to get that right I made matters worse.

It took me two years to learn enough to get it fixed.

I'd start with a thorough cleaning, but don't touch any adjustments. Then make sure the needle is in correctly, Flat to the Right and threaded Left to Right. Then try again.

Also when threading the bobbin case make sure the bobbin turns the correct direction when you pull on the thread. It should turn clockwise.

Thanks for all the sugestions, I figured it out, the needle was too far up into the needle clamp, I moved it down a little and it sews great. My sister had borrowed this machine from me several years ago, she said she couldn't get it to sew and gave it back I'm really glad, I love the looks of the machine, so neat. Thanks again, Sandy

Check in the needle grove for the stop screw. Usually the stop screw is also the screw that holds the thread guide on the needle bar. If that is still there and you still have to short seat a 15x1 needle then there is a possibility the needle bar adjustment is off.

Thanks Joe, I hadn't even thought to check that. I just looked and the screw is missing, are they hard to find?

I think Sew-Classic has the screws and the thread guide.
