Eldredge "B" - finally home!
This one was mailed Jan 15 - so it took it's time to get here!
But it was worth the wait - it's even nicer than I hoped, and turns over smoothly already. It didn't have the front inspection plate, but I got one off eBay right after buying the machine (I like when it works out that way). I'm "on the clock" right now so don't have time for more than a few pictures - but I just had to share! I chatted with the seller about packing - and it was very well packed. Good thing since it took the long way to get here. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psa920ec61.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps8aff526a.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psa689fc67.jpg |
You sure find neat machines! (and sometimes attachments!!)
|
Very nice! That old lady has some very graceful lines.

Cathy,
Your Eldredge B is a beautiful machine. The decals seem to be in very good condition! Jeanette |
Beautiful machine!
|
Look at those beautiful badges and shiny things! It's like magpie bait. You have such good taste!
|
she already look amazing and with your TLC she'll look awesome !
|
Congrats! Beautiful machine!
|
Another beautiful machine! How many does that make to date, all together?
|
similar attraction to this one @you no where...http://m.ebay.com/itm/141173371163?nav=RVI&sbk=1
but $52 shpg??!&%#@ |
That Defiance is a very pretty machine. It's a later model than mine, and made after the name change to National. I was specifically after a machine made before the name change.
And the good news - my tucker fits! The bed hole in this machine is in a slightly different location than the National made machine, and it's also a different thread. But see - it fits! http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps058e2904.jpg When I put this on the newer machine, the needle came down smack on top of the tucker bar. This one comes down just in front of the tucker - and it's the needle clamp that does the "pressing". http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psb856cd4b.jpg I was wondering about that extra leverl looking bar in the front, but it fits to hold the front guide firmly against the machine. |
msgd the seller on the Defiant to see if they had frt slide cover with serial # or or other access. Havent heard back yet.
|
The serial number should be stamped on the front - right were the front slide plate goes. The serial number is not on the slide plate with National made machines, like it is for some others.
|
Thanks...again! ( I think)
|
BTW- you do realize that Defiance is the same machine as your E-BT - just treadle and much prettier? you can tell it's 3/4 size by the way the underbraider plate fits (it would not stick over on a full size machine).
I really should not be interested - as I also have a E-BT, - but this one is oh so pretty ! So if you don't want it - let me know! I'll cry if no one bids on it |
oh my! A 3/4 size New Home just showed up on ebay - and I REALLY want that one! I hate when there are several I want going at the same time!
I know why my husband wanted me to buy that $5,000 Viking quilter - that would have taken ALL my machine money and then I'd be done, but I'd rather buy 50 - $100 machines instead! |
and I bet he would enjoy working on the 50 more than the 1....
|
i think im going for it. I'll have to xplain to DOH later...
|
Good luck!
I'll feel better passing on it if it goes to someone on the board - then I can be like an "aunt" instead of "mom" and that is almost as good. I'm going to jump on the other one - it's a bit more $$ but it's only in Iowa so should make it here safely. |
question ismac needle chart says National Defiance is 15*1 needle? Standard Defiance is 20*1, this is National, correct. Lastly, What did I just do?? buy a SM no means of propulsion....it's getting worse
|
This is the one I really wanted. I think this will be my last New Home. I'll have four real New Home machines, and one Free/New Home machine. The hard part will be narrowing down the attachments to only one or two sets per machine.

Yup - it's a National. Standard looks quite different.
Boye chart says it takes 13 shuttle and 14 needle, but I'm not sure how the Boye 13 needle compares to the 16 (Singer size). If you need attachments to go with it - let me know. I'm cleaning house! |
