Elna Question
Looking through GW for the fun of it I ran across this Elna machine:
{ http://www.shopgoodwill.com/auctions...-19873495.html } It dawned on me I couldn't identify the reverse button. Can someone tell me which control is reverse? Joe |
It's an Elna Special I had one that was free arm and gave it to my daughter. IFRC the dial to the right has your stitch length in black and continuous reverse lengths in red.
Also the flat silver lever can be pushed over for the immediate backstitch. |
Christy,
Thanks. That flat lever as a reverse control would be awful awkward from my point of view. Joe |
Nope, not awkward at all. Easy to push and hold with the thumb while sewing.
|
There are two reverses. One is the large dial and the other is the lever at the top.
Joe, the reverse lever is not awkward at all; at least it wasn't for me. At that spot I actually wore the paint off the body of the machine-all the way to the brushed metal finish. Course, I wore the paint off the wheel and spots on the bed of the machine as well. Some wear was fabric moving across the bed but a lot of it was something in the oils of my hands. You should see what I can do to hand sewing needles as well as metal crochet hooks and knitting needles! It's like rubbing glass marbles together. Thank heaven for bone and plastic! I wish you a sunny day. I wish me one too. Just discovered that the sky is really still blue. It's been dark and grey and a raw cold here. FL houses are not built for this kind of day. The meteorologist husband just told me to take a picture-more rain coming. Drat. Pat |
Pat,
My stepsons had body chemistry like that. Touch a piece of metal and in no time you could see where they touched. Had to keep an oily rag handy for them to wipe down anything and everything we didn't want rusted. It's still gloomy here. I'm no happy about it at all. The whole world gets dumped on with snow and so far we don't have more than an inch or two. Cheated we are, cheated. We need one huge snow for it to be a winter and this year as cold as it is, it hasn't happened. Yeah I'm weird. ;) Hope you get the sunny day you want, gloomy does get tiring. As for the Elna, I'll just have to see if I can find one to touchy-feel one of these days. Joe |

We live in sort of a bowl. All the big weather goes below or above us. The counties around us get hammered, we get the humidity in the summer and wind in the winter, but little else.

If she runs, go for it. A sturdy hard worker.

Oh, I'm not going for it. I was just curious about it. I've got a couple others I want more that I'm looking at. And I probably won't get those.
Seriously I've run out of room. I've got to get a bunch of machines rehomed. Joe |
