A quick look on ebay will give you an idea of upper levels, but I am sure they are available cheaper if you look. I got mine last summer for about €300, but it was a European voltage, so I don't think I had a lot of competition - and the voltage suited me fine because I live in Ireland.

The 222 is a free arm and they usually go for more than the 221. I've seen them for as much as $1,000.

The 222 usually go for a much as or more than the white 221. Most that I have seen went for ~$750. Nice present if you can get it. It is definetely on my 'someday' list.

I think dh said he found one for about $1200 with all the attachements...I didn't know if that was good or bad...I have the 221 now but with no attachments...and I have no idea what dh paid for it...it was a gift for me for Easter...he wants me to have the 221 for my birthday which is also our anniversary....the 221 is beautiful...I have a couple other singers but so far only one fw....thanks for all the replies....I will share your answers with dh and let him decide.....I love that he supports my addiction for fabric and machines..heheheh..blessings

the attachments are easily acquired--they are just short
shank. 222's always go for hundreds $ more. and condition is
everything on a 222 if you ever want to sell it. only major difference is the free arm on the 222. look up Graham Forsdyke.s site to see accurate prices, conditions, etc.
if I were spending that much $$, I would buy from him.
Lucky you !!!

They used to sell for as much as $3,000 in mint condition on eBay. Probably don't go for as much as that now, but someday will be worth it again. Especially if the machine is in mint condition. These are rare machines and worth a lot more than the 221 model.

Heck, if he wants to buy it for you, let him!

I paid over $1000.00 for mine.

They are far more expensive because they were made in the UK and only a few thousand made it to the U.S. vs. about 3.1 million 221s made in the US. So, it's reasonable to say that they are very expensive because they are indeed so very rare.
