Featherweight Cone Holder

DD was here yesterday so she was using my Elna. I needed to sew some binding on another quilt and had my Featherweight set up. OOOPS, didn't have any black thread on spools, just cones. OOOPS, DD has my cone holder at her house. So I came up with this rather inelegant solution to my problem. Supplies needed: 1 empty tin can, two large paper clips and two straws. Oh yes, a spool rack in a convenient location. I threaded some string on the "guides" so you can see how it work. And it does perfectly.

Love it! What a wonderful idea that anyone can make. I have trouble feeding my thread off of spools on some of my vintage machines. I think this is the perfect answer. Thanks so much for sharing.

Yep, but my "widget" is not as elegant as yours. Invention is the mother if necessity. I deliberately changed the phrase.

How clever you are! I have a "store bought " cone holder but I think yours is just as workable and shows brainpower. You go girl!

I have a similar contraption that involves a coathanger. Yours is way more elegant than mine.
