Featherweight-What to look for or ask???

I have a friend of a friend of a friend... who is selling her Featherweight which she says comes with a table and many attachments. Seems she is asking around $200 and states it works well. What kind of questions and info do I need to find out to know if its a good deal? Year? model#? Going price? So far the only advice I have gotten is to go with cash in hand. Any advice and tips would be greatly appreciate. Thanks. Jan

If it comes with a table $200 is a great deal. If it's in a cabinet (some people call a cabinet a table) it's a steal. I think you've got the basic questions covered. You might want to see if you can try it out before you decide to buy it, but if it comes with all you say it does I'd grab it.

An electric cord, bobbin holder, and needle plate. These things for a featherweight are really expensive. I have one and I love it. It is easy to grab and go.

I agree with Cari..as long as you can check to see if everything is functional i would grab it. Might try to get a few bucks off if there is no carry case as well or if that is in bad shape but otherwise it sounds like a reasonable deal. I was very fortunate and only paid $45 for my machine and $12 for my table - its rough but serviceable. I am not the norm.

I spoke with the lady that is selling it and she said it has its original box and that one latch doesn't work well but it does work. It is a 221K7 and is "Krinkle and black." The model # begins with AL. From what I found on the internet they were made up to 1955 but the lady's info was 1965. Since it was her mother's machine, she might be wrong about the year. It has the table, not a cabinet. Thanks for responding.

According to what she said it has all these. I am going to look at it tomorrow. Thanks for the response

Its a table not a cabinet and is a 221K7. (I put more info in my response to NQuilter.) I am going to look at it tomorrow. Thanks for your response. Jan

$200 is less than the going rate in my area. If it's in any sort of reasonable shape at all it's a good deal. I don't recall too many black crinkle finish featherweights. If it is, that's a plus.

A cabinet table or a card table?

221k7 from what I google is the white/green one. Crinkle and black might be the case.

Good luck! Sounds like a good day is ahead!
