Felt Drip Liner
Has anyone ever tried to clean the Felt Drip Liner in the base of the machines? What did you use? Did the old smell go away. Mine is dry but stinky. Thanks.
P.S. I know that I can buy a new one but I blew the budget and I am just tired of the smell. |
You didn't say what kind of machines you are working with, but you can find replacements for some machines online.
I threw my old ones away & found replacement ones for my featherweights here: https://shop.sew-classic.com/searchq...=felt+drip+pan Here is another source for singers: https://singer-featherweight.com/search?q=felt+drip+pan and here is another: https://www.vintagesingerparts.com/ |
I removed the one from under my featherweight bottom and left it out.

Cut a piece of regular felt to fit, eg the 9x12 craft pieces or yardage.

WIChix: For some reason I think I figured it had to be fire retardant or something, now that I think about it, that doesn't make much sense. Thanks
Tartan I think I haven't been oiling enough so I want something to catch the extra I am now giving her. Perhaps I can find a piece of bright red felt! p |
Craft Store felt is sufficient

I bought some wool felt and cut out a new one for my machine. Works great. Got the felt a JaAnns.

When I got one of my FW's someone had removed the felt liner and replaced it with cardboard. The good part was it was removed easily and I bought the felt one at a local sewing machine repair shop. But he told me to use it as a template and just get a piece of felt in the future.

My four machines don’t have felt in their drip trays and I didn’t know they were supposed to! I just mop any excess oil up out of the tray. Doesn’t the felt get saturated with oil? Should I get some?
