Nice! I have a 1927 model but it needs a new power cord. It was my grandmothers.

I just realized that a hand crank would be awesome for power outages! I was thinking about treadles but forgot about that one. Thanks :)

I absolutely love my hand crank. It is a Frister and Rossman born sometime between 1891-1895 . When we were stationed in England the first time, we brought home several hand crank sewing machines as they are farily inexpensive there (back in the 80's). I have just the one left and will never part. She is in her coffin case and I have painstakenly kept her pretty and running well. She had no bad parts, but took forever to find the correct needles. After currency exchange, I think that she cost me about $10.00!

I've been looking for a nice-nice Singer 185J in the original case..
(I don't know why.. this machine just TALKS to me!)
...and a Singer hand crank.

Well.. I can mark the second off my list.

I downloaded a Craigslist notification app on my android phone so that I could keep an eye out on posts.
I'd missed out on a great machine awhile back and figured out the game!

This 1922 Singer model 99 with bentwood case, key and original manual was posted on Craigslist
...and within 30 minutes of it having posted, it was all mine for $80. :)

I haven't done anything to her yet..
However, I can imagine I'll be sitting in Billy's Vintage Lounge surfing through all the info to get her cleaned up. :)
