Welcome to the board and what an addiction it can be. Looks like you made a great find.

My know just enough to open my mouth and stick my foot in guess that it is a badged machine made by Davis or is it National that had those round decals at the top of the arm?

Is there any words that could help with the ID on that round silver piece?

Enjoy the new machine.

Would love to see a picture of the cabinet also.

I'm not sure but I think someone with moderator or other privilages are the only ones that can move them to certain forums.

I don't have it in front of me at the moment, but the nickle plated round cover says something like "Foley & Williams Chicago Cincinnati".

The cabinet top has a chain attached to a mechanism below the machine. When the top cover is opened, it pulls the head up into position. Kind of like a draw bridge. However, I need to make some repairs where the mechanism has pulled loose from the wood. Pretty neat system. I'll try to get some photos of it.

Oh, those cabinets with the "elevator" lift are very nice and I am sure an upgrade that gentry ladies were able to have.

The nickel plated round cover says "FOLEY & WILLIAMS MFG CHICAGO & CINCINNATI.

Here's a view from the front quarter. I think it will clean up nicely.

She sure is a beauty! Although I've never heard of Foley & Williams, I am sure you'll have a real treasure once you have her cleaned up. Have you given her a name yet?

No name yet, but perhaps something will come to me. I'm working on my wife's great grandmother's Minnesota D right now. I need to get that one finished, then I'll start working on the F&W.
