Is this foot knee control compromised?
1 Attachment(s)
I just got through cleaning this foot knee control and hubby has started the cord repairs but I wanted to make sure even though it had cracks that is was still usable? Do the circled cracks in the plastic ruin it?
We were wondering how in the heck those cracks got there as it has a nice piece of metal covering the whole bottom. Thank for any help.:) |
I have one like that too. I super glued the broken ceramic parts together and it works OK. Remove the resistance unit from the metal frame. Carefully degrease the broken areas making sure you don't damage the resistance wires. Then use a high heat adhesive and glue the broken ceramic back together. Clamp it as the ceramic is porous and it takes a while for the glue ( epoxy or super glue to set ). I used a gel super glue on my broken controller. I don't know how long it will last under heavy use, that's why I suggested a high heat adhesive.

Thanks Joe, That is what we thought to do also. We will go ahead and make those repairs.
Thanks again. |
Okay, ceramic not plastic. We glued it last night and will try to get to the sewing machine today.

SunflowerZZ,
I forgot to answer your last question. Ceramic is very strong, but it is also fragile at the same time. Dropping that foot controller just right is all it would take to break it. Joe |
Thanks Joe. Yep pretty sure it was dropped. We couldn't get a nice fit to re glue as some of the ceramic was missing so we are now taking a resistance unit from another pedal and putting it in the good knee foot pedal. We will get a good working pedal eventually. ;)
