Free Co. #5 joins our side! I need help
I just won the Free#5 from goodwill in Spokane WA. We are going up tomorrow to get it! What I need help with is, how do you get the head off to move it safely? I have taken the head off of a singer treadle before
will this be the same? a sheet of wood seems to cover the part where it should attach. I'm so excited I can't type correctly:shock: We need a bunny wiggle smiley for times like this. ~Karen B |
Karen,
Once the auction has ended the link is removed from GWs site. If you could post the auction link here I"ll look at it and see if I can figure it out. Joe |
Congrats! I wish I lived closer to one of the goodwill sites that do the auctions.

Hillsborro OR is about 220 miles, that seems to be where all the machines are sold around here. I can see where I need to keep lid on this addiction.:D |
Congrats! Yes, the head will remove in the same way as a Singer does. Tip the head back and loosen the two grub screws that hold the head on the hinges. :)
|
Windblown - that is so beautiful! Be sure and post pics when you get her home. I can't believe we bought the same machine on the same day lol!

Windblown,
Glad you got the machine. I soooooo wanted it, but there was no way to get it. Now it's going to a good home. Charlee beat me to the take down instructions so you should be good to go. When I transport a treadle cabinet I also remove the drawers. Just makes it easier on everything and take a belt of a soft something to tie the lids down so they don't flop open too. Joe |
Joe, you said something that I often forget in my emphasis to "get that head OUT of the cabinet before transport"...take out any attachments from the drawers, and remove the drawers, or if you have a key, lock them so they can't slide back and forth. (Removal is the best choice, no strain on the lock area then)
