I got extremely lucky. Someone was giving this away and I picked it up from the curb and hauled it home. I love this machine! It's great for sewing garments. My daughter loves it too and she wants it.

I'm glad enough to let her have it. It's rekindled her interest in sewing, so I'm thrilled.

I'm looking for another one but the ones I've seen-only a couple- on ebay and somewhere else are approaching Featherweight prices. Are these 223s that rare?

Thank you for reading.

It looks a lot like a 301 or 404. I've never heard of that number, but that doesn't mean anything. Nice machines. My 404 is cranking out masks and a 301 is FMQ a quilt.

I wouldn't say rare but i wouldn't expect to see them available that often. Built between 1960-70 (Japan?) As for Ebay prices, never go by them i say https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images...es/thumbup.png Singer Machines - 223U / 224U / 226U

Good machine to keep & use indeed but not that valuable in my opinion.

I have one and love it. Nice since it also has zigzag. Not that expensive but are rare to find.

I think Hooligan is correct. However, I'd like to add this: Ebay "buy it now" prices are not disclosed. Even if one is asking $250.00 for a given sewing machine, they might take $150.00 (or less) if it is offered, depending on how long it's been for sale. However, the site will report that it sold for the full amount of $250.00. On most of those "buy it now" items, the seller can leave it up for an unlimited amount of time and not pay Ebay until it sells.

The only accurate information that items on Ebay actually sold for is to confine you search to items that were sold at auction.
