Buddy just picked this up at the dump for me. More details when I get it home and cleaned up. |
Lucky you! It's really cute!
Have fun with her. Tfs.
Oh what a darling machine! Thank goodness you have her with you, safe and sound.
The "hatch" on the top seems to be for decorative stitch cams.... alas none were to be found with the machine, anyone have any idea where/ what else might take these cams ?
A pink machine - just what so many of us are looking for. My mother had a turquoise White in the 50s. Very nice machine. The cams should be on ebay.
the pink is more a trick of the lighting, in person I would call her mocha /tan
Dan,
A pic straight down into the trap door might help ID the cams. But there must be zillion designs of them. That's gonna be a beautiful machine when you get it cleaned and oiled. Joe |
She really is a beauty. Lucky her to have been picked up and given to someone (You) who will love and use her.
Have fun cleaning it up, then should be a beauty!
 My heart just went pitty pat, pitty pat. It is PINK! It was at the dump???? OMG. Can't wait to see more pics.

hurridly dumper some oil on what I could get to last night, Still seems pretty stiff. I need to figure how to get the top cover off.
I also got the little matching color tin that would have held the accy. parts. It has two throat plates ( a blank one and a straight stich to go with the zigzag that is installed) and a straight foot, it has a narrow rolled hem foot on it now. Seems like a nice machine. oh and there are no bobbins with it I will have to figure that out. it apears to be and oscilating hook action. much like a "15" with the vertical bobbin one other odd thing, it has two spool posts, two thread guide paths, and the tensioner seems real wide....and the spring has two obvious loops, Dual needle machine.....same as the 306w? special dual needle ? Single bobbing how does that work ? |
What a lucky find!
It looks very similar to my White 763 Fair Lady. It uses a normal needle, nothing special with these Whites! Dual needles are just threaded using the two bobbin spools.
the model number on this one is 6477 having no experience with whites i have no idea what that means, I was just wondering how the mechanics of the dual needle thing worked, two needles two upper threads one lower bobbin? I do not foresee it ever be used as a dual needle machine, but curiosity and all.
the feed dog drop buttons seem odd to me as well, there is an up and a down button.....fully depress one and the other rises... as you would expect, however there seems to be a neutral position where you can push one far enough to unlock the other, but not lock the fist ( both button up) I would say " dont do that" except that the little ratchet lever under neeth seems to have 3 positions ...... any one have any experience with this ? |

There should be two screws on the top piece so you can remove it. Similar to my pink Morse. Should be a piece of cake.

Candace, no I have not Googled, i have really done nothing other than throw some oil at it, My Bro in law gave it to me as I was leaving his place last night, after we spent the afternoon building Skin on frame Kayaks, I was sort of in another project mode, this was not a sewing machine weekend for me ;-) The poor thing is still sitting in the back of my truck, I will try to get some more pictures of her when i go on break today.
It will use regular old class 15 bobbins, 15x1 needles - I don't know the double needle numbers. Get it out of your truk, pull the top off and float that baby in oil. Either that or send it to me and I'll take care of it. :D

Pictures uploading now, however the top does not come off so easily ( well it might be easy but its not intuative )

Dan,
Your last three attachments won't open. Open the face plate, at the top there might be a screw that will hold the top on. There's like a dogleg tab at the hand wheel end that fits into a slot. That holds that end down. I have two like that. Joe |
If there's no screw (like Joe's talking about), try just pulling up on it. I've got a couple Kenmores that the top just pulls off & snaps back on...it just might be from the same era that White made Kenmores.
Glad she was rescued from the dump. She now has a good home.
yup just pulls off, thanks.
Sorry, I put up an album with all of the pictures I have of it.http://www.quiltingboard.com/members...bums17516.html

oh my goodness. You are so very lucky. Wishing you buckets full of good lucky shaping up the new lady of the house. Someone must love you a lot to drag it home for you to have. Pretty supportive of you. Thanks for sharing it.

I'm very excited to see this! I just found this exact same machine at Goodwill and grabbed it! Mine has no bobbin, no bobbin case, no cams and the needle clamp is either the wrong one for the machine or not put on correctly. I can't wait to look at your folder and see more pics! I am hoping you figured out what cams it takes. I want to find some for my pinky too!
OOh she's a pretty gal! I can't wait to see her after her spa treatment! I got two freebies just before they headed to the dump. a lovely mocha Dressmaker and a Montgomery Ward Signature with a wonky particle board cabinet. They run pretty well for being covered in dust and cobwebs. *squee* I'm excited for ya!

Envious! Love White machines, very strong motors.
