German Hand Crank

2 Attachment(s)
I just got a Harris 9G hand crank.
It is in very clean condition so I gave it a shot of triflow and threaded it up and it sews a very nice seam.

Now to deep clean and polish. Cabinet is missing its handle, should be an easy fix.

Here it is.

My question to all of you is, what are the bolts on the back for? Maybe a motor??

I also can't find out the German manufacture, I am guessing it is a 1930s something because of the rather plain decals.

Thanks for your help,

Ethel

I believe that your Harris 9G was made by Haid & Neu, but I don’t know when it was made. I don’t know when mine was made either.

My Harris doesn’t have the bolts yours has, so I’m not sure what those are for either.

Both beautiful machines! I have no ideas on those bolts in back. I would be very curious to learn the purpose too!

Perhaps someone had bolted some sort of light fixture there?

I do not have a Harris, but have other German HCs. None have bolts. Agree probably aftermarket to hold a motor.

Both lovely, thanks for sharing...helps me when I'm out and about to not ignore a decent machine when you all share your treasures.

Nice find!

Because of the sawdust/marks around them, they seem after-market to me. I agree that they where probably to hold a motor or light fixture, perhaps a thread cone holder or even an additional parts & attachments box? But I really do think they where added after the machine was sold.
