Wow and I thought that first one was expensive! I've seen videos on youtube of these little beauties and would like one too, but not at those prices. Didn't know they were that old. Wasn't there a big push in the Great War for people to buy one and send socks to troops? Logically there *should* be loads of them around that were made in the 1910s

Anyone ever used a regular 1960s Japanese machine to knit socks?

Good thing you wasn't with me recently...I went to a new thrift store and there was 5 diff kind machine and all was at 75% off! New home, singer and a old Kenmore !
One was a treadle base without machine
And no...I didn't buy any, no money that day!! Lol

If I counted right, we're coming home with 8. Still have to load the Singer 12, but the others are there.

Cathy - Sounds like fun going with you DH!!! You certainly have luck finding them!! I found 2 Singers a few days ago at the Sally Ann thrift store (1 frozen & one missing parts) but they were asking lots of $ so I will keep looking and if they are still there in a month maybe they will be cheaper.

I didn't count right. Forgot about the really nice singer 185 in a case the my friend gave DH.

Pfaff 130 frozen and very rusty underneath, missing parts but has some we needed for our 130. It will go for parts.
