Well here she is, all cleaned up and ready for her coming out.

Meet Gertrude:

On the way to pick up the machine the name Gertrude popped into my wife's mind. So she named this machine; Gertrude.

And one with most of her accessories. A lady always has to have her accessories ... right:

Here is some stitching I did with her:

The top and bobbin tension is heavier than I like but my wife pronounced it perfect so I'm not gonna change it.

And here is a bit of a tip of those of you that use Evapo-Rust to clean off rusty parts.
Many of Gertrude's parts and accessories are black side. Here is what happens if you leave a black side part in Evapo-Rust over night:

The fabric guide in the middle was as black as the screwdriver and adjustable hemmer when it went into the E-R. It had some rust on it where it was screwed to the bed and some stinky rodent did a naughty on it.
But now it's devoid of finish. Black side is as far as I can tell a heavy duty chemical bluing like they put on guns.
Basically a controlled oxidation ... or in other words ... a controlled rust.

If you dunk a black side part, don't leave it in for long.

Joe, I like the godzilla finish on the 66 I have a 128 black side with this finish and really like it. My wife thinks its ugly but I just like the looks of the godzilla finish. I am partial to any 66 it is my go to machine(grandma's 66-1)

Hi Joe, Gretude cleaned up nicely, what did you clean the body with? I have stayed away from the godzilla finish, after seeing how nicely your machine cleaned up i will have to rethink that.

Oil and cotton balls. That's all I used on Gertrude and Mrs. Crinkle. Both were filthy and cleaned up really nice.

Wow, Joe, Gertrude is a real beauty after you worked your magic on her.

Think I'll check out my local freecycle site later, might be a treasure like yours waiting there for me. May in Jersey
