A Singer followed me home from a garage sale because I thought it was so cute. It is GREEN - on closer inspection a '15' is on the front of the machine and the serial number makes it a Model 15 born in 1956.
Problem is I don't see anything on the web for a Model 15 in GREEN. Any suggestions? |
Sure! Post a picture! We want to see.

Hey, I just got a green Singer this weekend too! Mine is a Singer 15-125, according to the little manual...its light green with a cabnit. I posted a picture towards the end of the vintage posting. Did you get the same machine as me? I paid 15.00 for mine, couldnt believe it!

Yes! They look almost identical! Except yours has a way nicer cabnit. I will go see where my picture is on here so you can see it!

***Its green small and weighs a ton. lol*** <---- color of my face when I was done! |
I have some I can no longer move. Like my Kenmore. I had to have my DD help me get it into the cabinet. lol My face turns that color a lot when I am trying to move stuff. :-) :-)

Yep, it took me and bf to carrying it out and put it in the truck!
|
Both of you ladies are lucky! Great finds, to be sure.
|
Thanks Pam! I was so excited. Saturday was community garage sales, and it was just sitting in a yard, no sale with a 15.00 sign on it, in the cabnit, probaly alot of people didnt even know it was a sewing machine. Nosey me, I tell bf, hey, stop the truck, lol!
|
Great find! Lucky you but be careful, don't want to hurt yourself. I tweeked my back the other week getting a machine out of the car without help. So had to take it easy for a couple of days. But I am better now.

Billy Thanks |
I would have to see the serial to be certain but singer had a 15 that was a green before they came out with the newer body style like this one shown.
But I would be willing to bet the farm it is a 15 just from a few of the features I can see from the photo. The first thing is the location of the bobbin and the tension assembly. Then you can look at the stitch regulator and the way the motor is attached. Billy |
It clearly has a 15 on the front under the stitch regulator. The serial number is AM460xxx. According to the Singer site is a 15 50,000 allotted 3/8/1956. When looking for a manual, I'm directed towards the 15-91. Confused here? Is it a 15 or 15-91 or some other 15-xx?
I didn't see anything about it being green before black. Can you tell me where you're finding this info? IF you still need them, I can post pictures of the areas you requested seeing later. Thanks for taking your valuable time to answer my questions. I appreciate it.

There is one tucked away in the NeedleBar's PL and when the Mint Green FW came out is when they did a small run of the regular model 15 in Green. I have seen one that was at a Flea Market in Nashville last year. Billy[/quote] I've signed up for the Needlebar forum but need to be approved. Thanks for the direction. |

Billy All of the material on the site is under copyright so if someone does use it we can nail them for not asking for permission. I went in there the other day to see where the Green 15 was and get you the direct link and now I cant find it anywhere. It might have been a 192 or 115 that was the green now that I am thinking about it. There is a Gold 15 in the library that was a factory refurbished model that looks really neat!! But they have been moving things to the NBWiki so it might be there. But if you go into the PL there are more than 9000 photos in there and I am not sure whats in the NBWiki. But they are all cataloged and nice in order but I just have to figure out where it is. Billy |
Billy,
I have requested the needlebar access also. But should I keep bugging him or just wait? |

Green Model 15 is hard to find on the web as most Model 15's shown are black. I have one like the one pictured below your note that is exactly like it except is a portable with a shallow wooden base. Bought it in 1958. Quite using it when I got a Singer Touch and Sew which was a real lemon. Finally got rid of it and now have a Viking SE. You have inspired me to get that Model 15 out and get it sewing again. I need a new bobbin winder tire. Hope you enjoy yours nice green machine.
