Guess what I did this morning

I just need to brag on myself. I am quite chuffed. This morning I took apart my upper thread tension assembly on my FW. I cleaned it and put it back together and I now have a nice stitch. I had been trying in my quilting group to do some FMQ and even with help from the others we couldn't get the tension away from really really tight. The discs themselves were clean but the big spring not only had some crud up front but the whole spring part looked like it had come out of a fire and was covered in what seemed like thick black soot. There was also some old oil on some parts and a bit of other crud. Wohoo. I am tickled. As you may have gathered I am not mechanically experienced. Cheers, for now.

Your machine thanks you!

Congrats! That's the beauty of those little machines. I have one, coveted and kept safe. I need to get it out and use it.

Good job! I am learning to do a few things beyond basic maintenance with sewing machines. I would take a class in sewing machine repair, if I ever saw one offered in my area. That’s great your machine is working better now. Keep up the good work!

I too am proud of you. Deep up the good work. You never know when something else will call you to be brave with your FW.

I am so impressed (and envious). Although I have partially taken apart numerous vintage machines (and put back together!), I am a total failure at tensioners. I have to pay a repair shop for that work - usually spending way more for the repairs than the machines. So I congratulate you! Great job!!!
