Gummed Up Featherweight!
Howdy y'all :c)
Right before Christmas, I was working on a last-minute gift and using my FW to sew it with. I grabbed the Velcro to sew on it, not realizing I had the stick-on kind. By the time I realized the problem, there was gooey gummy stuff all over the needle. I took the bobbin out and the thread on it was so tangled and sticky that I just threw the whole thing away. Needless to say, I haven't tried using my FW since. I don't want to try without advice. So what should I use to clean it with? Will I have to take things apart to get to all of the goo? What all will need to be cleaned? Help please! Donna |
I did that once too, so sorry that happened! I believe I only had to change the needle but it wasn't on a featherweight. I would remove the bobbin casing and check for sticky there. I'm not sure what would take it off safely but I would try sewing machine oil first.

Goo Gone, but make sure its only on the metal pieces, don't get it near your paint, I don't know what it would do to it. But it will get the sticky out for sure.
