I don't know about the Wheeler and Wilson 9, but all of the other machines you mentioned take a "normal" 15x1 needle.

You can find these everywhere - even in some grocery stores. They're also called 2020, HAx1, 130/705 and other names, depending upon the manufacturer. :)

Get the regular sharps, (they're so standard that the package will probably not even say "sharps" on it) not universals or "stretch" needles. Only use ball points if you're sewing knits. I get Organ and Orange brand by the hundred on eBay for about $13-15/100. :)

Welcome winter, enjoy your vintage machines. They are fun to work and sew on. And they are truly workhorses for any project you could want to make.

Chance, if you have a manual. it will tell you what needles to use. My Singer 15-91 is electric and takes regular sewing needles. My treadle is a Singer 15-88 and it to uses regular needles. But there are some machines made at that time that used specific styles of needles. That all I can say to help you.

welcome to the club. you will find lots of information on here that can't be found anywhere else. The members have all tried and errored so they know what they are talking about.

I went hunting for the info about the Wheeler & Wilson needle for someone else who was thinking about buying one and it takes a "non-standard" needle.

There is a listing on eBay for a 3pk of the 9W needle in the old-time Boye wooden tube - about $12 for three needles, but at least they're available. :)
