Has Anyone Ever Seen One of These?

In perusing CL before I head home for the evening, I saw this machine posted. LOVE the table design! I think compaqnies that have the bigger table/desk sewing cabinets should offer one similar to this, even though it looks like it would need a dedicated space.. probably 42-48 inches long when closed?

Just from the pictures, everything except for the outside of the table looks like it has been well cared for.
From what little I was able to find online, these are Japanese machines made by Brother?

ANTIQUE EMDEKO SEWING MACHINE IN RARE SEWING TABLE (Everything Works great)

I inherited this wonderful sewing table recently and I have no use for it. Everything works great and it has all the things with it as seen in photos. Very rare table design. Sewing machine hides inside table and folds up to be just an ordinary table.

Asking $950 obo, will consider any serious offer.

I would say that is toooooooo much money. Then again that's just me. hugs

I sold a machine like that just a little while ago for $60, and I was glad to get that. I never could ascertain who the maker was, though.

The table is pretty cool, but that price is ridiculous.

TinkerQuilts 07-02-2013 05:54 PM

I agree, that price is WAY too high, unless you have a lot of disposable cash LOL.

mjhaess 07-03-2013 05:40 AM

That is a great table and machine but I would say it is way too much money...

WOW! this is a true sewing table, never seen one like it before. Still that's alot of $$$$'s

mighty 07-03-2013 06:56 AM

I have never seen one like that.

mlmack 07-03-2013 07:17 AM

Looks like one of the spool pins is broken as well.

BillieJean 07-03-2013 07:35 AM

love the table but agree to much money...wait a while they will lower the price...

SteveH 07-03-2013 07:51 AM

the good news is at that price you do not have to worry about it going away any time soon....

nstitches4u 07-03-2013 03:49 PM

Seems a little pricey to me! You can buy these type mahines fairly cheap just about anywhere. The cabinet is not well maintained.

MimiBug123 07-04-2013 03:09 AM

I would offer them $50 and wonder if I was overpaying at that! They can't be serious with that price. That is way beyond ridiculous!

callen 07-04-2013 05:01 AM

Nice set but I agree, wayyyyyyyyyyyyy too much money. The table would need to be refinished. Great looking table though.

newbiequilter58 07-04-2013 07:15 AM

I agree. WAY too much money! The cabinet is what caught my eye, and the picture of those scratches on the top made me shake my head. It makes you wonder how people arrive at the prices they do. Someone has a "Salesman's Featherweight" in the case with all the attachments on CL in Tulsa for $1200 that looks in excellent shape... it have been on there for almost 3 months now. I posted pics of it in the Vintage Giggles.. What were they Smoking? thread.
You have to wonder if these are cases of people who inherit family treasures that see the potential dollar value they can get by selling it versus keeping something that has meaning and memories. I know if I inherited this I would find a way to make a place for it in my house, or give it to another relative that would give it a good home, cherish it as a family heirloom, and use it to make more memories for their kids.
But I guess if everyone did that, we wouldn't be able to give the older machines the new home that they deserve:)

Sweet , nice machine and table.

Just checked CL again. They've dropped the price from $950 to $550 OBO in less than a week. May have to keep an eye on this to see where it finally ends up. It's tempting but I would much rather have a Singer Spinx with decals in great condition.

IMO $550 is still way too high. I don't see these tables terribly often (the ones with the flip up spool holders), but I DO see them occasionally. If you're dead set on a table like this and the guy won't come down to a reasonable price ($100 or less - honestly), then I would wait and keep looking for the table even if it has a different machine. Nothing special about the machine.

Dog House Mom:
Apparently they must have figured out that this is not the highly-sought after antique machine they thought it was or were led to believe that it was. On 7/7/13 they dropped the price down to $400, so they dropped the price $550 within the first 7 days of posting. I'm going to keep watching it just to see how low they finally go. Who knows? They may pull it and decide to start using it. Better get back to work....lunch is over.

newbiequilter58 07-11-2013 11:19 PM

On 7/10, dropped it down to $250. It keeps dropping at this rate I just may have to go look at it.....

CanadianGirl 07-12-2013 04:37 AM

I saw the exact same table with a 501 Singer installed for $100. Now that is a deal. The $950 your people are asking confirms what a good price $100 is...now, how do I get something THAT size home in my VW beetle? hmmm.....

Ha! I had a 66 bug and if there was room for my big butt to sleep in the back seat, there is room for that table (with a little take-apart...)
