I went to another estate sale today and there in the midst of all of the dishes and kitchen items sat this Singer 500 sewing machine. It did not have a manual but did come with a cute little plastic box and lots of feet and cams. It ran a little rough and the tension needs some work which my OSMG will gladly fix for me, so the lady dropped the price from $25 down to $20. Well, I just couldn't resist. But this absolutely has to be the last one I buy. I am running out of room. I just bought a 401a a couple of days ago and last week I found this gorgeous crinkle finish 128 in what I believe to be never used condition. Here are pictures of my $20 Singer 500.

Nicely done. I'd always make room for a $20 Rocketeer.

I have this exact machine with the instructions and lots of cams and feet and in a cabinet ! It was given to me by my husband's grandmother. I use it for "heavy duty" sewing. It is a very reliable machine! I have the receipt dated 1961. Grandpa paid $361 for it!

That is interesting. I have been fooling around with it a little bit. I downloaded a manual and discovered the needle was in backwards and it was threaded wrong. I adjusted the bobbin tension a little and now she seem to just click right along. I think I am going to really like her.
