Help finding faceplate latch for superdeluxe zigzag machine

Hi, I just got this machine:
http://i65.tinypic.com/2wgdpab.jpg
and the part that holds the faceplate closed is broken off

Does anybody know what it's supposed to look like or where to find another one?

Did you get a manuel with all the bits and pieces listed? If not how about looking up a manual on line???

I tried searching the name, and the number on the bottom of the machine in case that was the model number, and all i get are the same couple pictures of this same machine and manuals for different machines

The manual most likely won't show that part anyway. That is something that will have to come from a donor machine. You can't go by the name on the machine since that machine was probably badged under several different names, you need to go by pics. Someone who parts machines out is your best bet. There's a guy on FB, Fred Sanford I think, who probably has what you need.

I also might try making one myself i just don’t know what it should look like

On most of my machines it's just a little tab that sticks out and keeps the face plate closed by pressure.

Can't help but wanted to say I like the helper. I have 2 of them who can smell machines being opened up even when they, the cats, are outside.

my cat gets jealous after a little while of me sewing and he just stands in front of it until i pet him (as you can see in my avatar). the other cat is the kind who will stick her foot under the treadle, or into the needle, or on the bottom of the iron, and steals any bobbins i leave out

Be very watchful of pins and needles. For some reason cats like to eat those as much as they like rubber bands, which are also dangerous for them to eat.
