Help identifying machine,please
 

Please help. I just purchased this machine, it is very dirty, but purrs like a kitten! I thought it was a 15-91, but the tension seems to be in the wrong place. Neat little button helps flip the bobbin out of the case. It is AL 630359 and they say it was built in 1953. The decals are in great shape. Thank you.

that is a 66, not sure of the suffix, but it's a later one because it has the white lever.

I have the "godzilla" version of that machine (that is the crinkle finish).

Look normal to me but it's a Singer 66.

That is a 66-16.
According to ISMACS { http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_mach...-database.html } it is 1 of 15,000 allotted 11-20-1953.
A great machine for straight stitching. Lots of arch room, good power, and about as bullet proof as any sewing machine can be.

I have also been working on a 66-16 for awhile. You will not be slower than me. :D
I have to take my rings off because the polish will turn them black and I hate the feel of that after awhile. So I only polish a little bit at a time one or two times a day.

Did you get the rest of the case? That style is common on the 99s but I don't see as many on the full size machines.
What the others said. It's a 66 and should be a great machine for you.

I have a pair of 99's, which is the 3/4-size version of this machine and they're great little stitchers. I do want to get a 66 someday too but waiting for the right one to find me. :)

I love that Godzilla finish, Macybaby! It always looks very classy to me but I kind of miss the extra decals.

This machine takes standard needles and Singer class 66 bobbins - nice and easy to find, but probably want to avoid buying modern Singer-brand bobbins as they aren't good and don't fit these older machines well - I can't even get them into the bobbin case of my 99's. :(

Rodney, I did get the rest of the case. The top is in pretty good shape. The bottom fabric is peeling away from the wood as you can see.
