HELP: Looking for a part- 201 tension piece
Does anyone have an extra of this part? I would really rather not buy an entire tension replacement if I don't need to, I'm sure it might come in handy down the line though. ;)
From my Singer 201-2 it is numbered 45343 and it's called something like the thread guard plate. From the front: http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps69rxskz9.jpg From the side, you can see the bend in the tail, I can't get it any better: http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps2qiyrhii.jpg Thanks everybody! |
Anastasia,
I don't have one of those pieces, but I think you could straighten it fairly easy. Just lay the tail across a flat hard surface and gently tap in the center of the bend from the curved side. Should straighten right up. Joe |
I've attempted that, it seems weak where the tail attaches to the disk.
|
Joe is right that should straighten. Keep away from the disk area when you straighten it. You might be able to straighten it by putting just that shaft in a vice.
|
I don't have a vice.
Thanks, I'll buy a new tension from eBay then. |

Oh come on you two, quit making excuses and straighten those pieces. You don't need a vise, or anything special.
Just a block of wood, a small hammer and a pair of pliers. Geeze, do us guys gotta do all the straightening around here ....... ;) Joe Joe |
