Help with my FW

Hello,

I was recently sewing Masks with my FW and hit a hard spot on the elastic band I was using for the ear straps and jammed the machine. I’m sure I’ve messed it up really bad. The bobbin case or bobbin now comes up and hits the needle plate and of course stops. If I take he needle plate off it will continue to rotate. Any thoughts on what is messed up and where I can take it to be serviced. I will be moving to Phillips, Wi in August and have no idea what’s around to ask or go for help.

Thank You!
April

Sounds like the timing is off and may have to go to a Singer tech.

Hello April! Welcome from Florence. Wausau or Rhinelander may be your best bets for finding a service tech. SewSmart has a fabric store in each, at Wausau she also sells vintage machines, tho I do not know if she repairs. May be worth a phone call, a recommendation if nothing else.
I've never worked on a FW, or a machine with similar issue, or I'd be glad to help.

Featherweight Hook Retainer

The hook retainer needs to fit between the springs on the bottom of the needle plate. Here's a picture.

What quiltedsunshine said. I've had a FW for years now, but I still forget this almost every time I take off the needle plate!

It's also possible it's a bent needle mucking things up - have you changed the needle?
