help with a wizard machine
 

Hi everyone, i could use some help and any info on a wizard custom machine. I was given this machine last summer and just now playing on it. it is a pretty baby blue color, i dont know the year or can not find anything on web about this macchine. this is my problem the needle stays on left site of plate when sewing straight stich, will zig zag. other than that not sure how to get it back to the middle. I have the book with 2 of the pages half ripped out and that is no help. sure dont want to open it up but will if i need to. the motor has brother on it is it made by brother? this machine is in great shape very pretty blue. was thinking of giving to doughter-in- law to be, but i have feel in love with it so i think it will be staying with me. any info please and thank you. mary from mo.

Hi Mary!! I don't know much about these machines either, but Miriam does! :) I'm guessing that your Wizard is a Japanese made machine...do you have photos?

I think I saw where someone said that on some of these machines the normal needle orientation is to the left? You still should be able to change it, I would think.

If it's a Japanese clone that was made with the left sitting needle, there is no way to change it. That's the way they were designed. It should have feet that came with it especially made for the left sitting needle? That's the problem with some of these...they are not loved by quilters for this feature. However you can just use a 1/4" guide of some sort on the bed of your machine for piecing. If it's NOT one of the left stitching machines then the mechanism may be stuck. It's really hard to tell without opening the machine and playing with it, myself.

Wizard was made in Japan - if you take off the nose cover you should see a piece go in and out side ways when you push on the needle bar - that pin may be gunked with dried up oil - clean off the dead oil. Then open up the top of the machine - when you push on the needle bar there should be some kind of pin going side to side under there - clean off dead oil - then re-oil the machine.
