Hey GreyQ, Buy the New Home Greyhound!

Think about it! "New Home" with a picture of a Greyhound right over it!! It's perfect, if you don't I can't promise that I won't. It's still @ $9.99 on ebay. yeah yeah shpg,....
http://www.ebay.com/itm/111256190446...84.m1423.l2649

save me from myself, I've got 2 new ones this weekend and 2 last week,

GreyQ 01-19-2014 05:51 PM

The shipping was less than what I spent on gas to get my green New Home. This is a model I like but I was at a greyhound M&G & missed the ending. Thanks for the tip, keep them coming.

Didn't realize you'd found something, did you post about it?

GreyQ 01-20-2014 06:45 AM

Yes, the post is My first green machine, too, as Macybaby found a green Singer the same day I found a green New Home. I am still looking for the big prize a New Home with the Greyhound badge or decal across the arch. I''l probably pick up a couple of others, too. We always say that greyhound owners are the best chippers, you just can't have one greyhound.

It's relisted - I was so, so tempted to bid on this - but my husband is starting to think I may be a bit over the line, so I've got to stop buying them because they are cute (and cheap).

GreyQ 01-20-2014 07:37 PM

It's on my watch list so all of you get to the back of the line.:p

This greyhouse is a great looking machine and seems to be in good condition.

Oh My Greyhound!!! I want that so badly! A road trip to New Jersey is out of the question. I wonder if they would ship it. It's a 2 mo. listing but I emailed them just in case. Absolutely eye candy!! Thanks Steve for spotting it!!! Ooops I drooled on the keyboard.

SteveH 01-22-2014 10:24 AM

I just used the "searchcraigslist.org" site and searched for "greyhound sewing" (it searched ALL Craigslist's in the US at once

oldsewnsew 01-22-2014 10:59 AM

uh ohh I'm in trouble

now that is a real Greyhound for you GreyQ. maybe there's a member here who's from NJ.

GreyQ 01-23-2014 05:42 AM

I made an offer!!!! Hopefully they will be able to get USPS Select Parcel shipping otherwise the shipping costs are prohibitive, but less than the cost of an airline ticket to get it. I'll keep you posted!!

oldsewnsew 01-23-2014 07:16 AM

I think if you want their best cooperation in pkg I for one wouldn't offer less than the $100. Sometimes you get what you pay for. Just sayin'

Macybaby 01-23-2014 07:47 AM

I agree - I'm looking at a machine they are asking $15 for, and figure I wouldn't offer less than $75 to have it shipped, and I'd also let them know what I expect for packing. I've had good luck when I talk to sellers before bidding. I'm very leary of trying to work a deal for shipping outside of eBay (or Goodwill online). With eBay if nothing ever shows up, the Buyer Protection will refund my money. Not sure how Goodwill works -

oldsewnsew 01-23-2014 08:08 AM

and if it's something you REALLY want...

I sure hope this works out for you!

GreyQ 01-23-2014 10:49 AM

The offer is full price + what I researched as available shipping prices. I listed tips for good shipping practices & he replied that he has experience shipping antiques. Even though the listing is 2 mo. old, I think I made a fair offer. He was going to check the shipping rate on his end. With any thing, I can always live without it. I'll still be looking for more greyhounds.

Rodney 01-23-2014 01:10 PM

Sounds like you're pretty close to having a deal hammered out. Probably too soon for congratulations but I think you'll end up owning that machine.

I need a little hand holding. The guy wanted me to call him, so I did. He didn't trust Paypal but wanted to give me his bank account # so I could make a direct deposit to his account. You could have picked me up off the floor. I talked him into using paypal then as I was going to send the money, he said add $5 because I'm going to pack this so well. He wanted me to buy a table, too. I'm thinking this guy is just eccentric, but alarms were going off in my stomach & brain so this is going to be either a very expensive (for me) mistake or it will be fine. I'll know in a week or so if the Greyhound arrives. I am usually risk averse but sometimes I do damn those torpedoes. I feel like I just put my hand into a snake pit and I hope I pull out a treasure. I can't believe I did this. Keep your fingers crossed for me! I'll keep you posted. That cat's name is Scrappy.

SteveH 01-23-2014 04:48 PM

that's rough... I have had two situations when purchasing machines that tripped my warning alarms, but went ahead anyway... Both worked out well, weird, but well.

Macybaby 01-23-2014 04:56 PM

I think if you get someone that sounds like they love the old machines, you'll be fine. It's the ones that sound like they picked it up off the curb and consider it an old piece of junk they can get some $$ for that scare me.

At least he didn't ask you to give him YOUR bank account info so he could take the money! Giving you his info is very risky on his part, so he must trust you there.

If we never took risks, live would be boring. And it's only money - you can always make more of that.

That cat's name is Scrappy. I asked just for you.

ThayerRags 01-24-2014 06:06 AM

Thanks GreyQ. That's a good name for a cat, don't you think?

For a quilter's cat? Yes, I do.

SteveH 01-28-2014 09:59 AM

any updates? Hope it worked out.

Macybaby 01-28-2014 10:28 AM

Maybe it's partying somewhere in NE along with my machine!

My second machine is marked "Out for Delivery", that one was mailed Jan 15th from Washington State. I'm very excited for this one to show up, I don't know for sure what feet will fit!

GreyQ 01-29-2014 07:25 AM

He gave me a tracking number but it doesn't work online. Sometimes you need to track economy shipping at the post office or he just miss typed it. This guy is strange. He keeps calling my office. Now he wants $16 more because the shipping was more than he thought it would be because he packed it up "so good". At least it's shipped and should arrive on Mon. I'm waiting to see what condition it's in before I respond. It sounds like he used a moving blanket to pack it which would add a lot of weight. I'll keep you posted.

Macybaby 01-29-2014 08:05 AM

Economy tracking does not show up online often. I've had them not show up until they hit a main station (usually Des Moines IA). Not sure if yours will go the same, but I've had some not show up for over a week in tracking. Don't despair - it will get there!

yes. wait for your package to arrive first before doing anything else. also if it's USPS, even if tracking no. is correct, it will not show up. only when it's in your local post office will you be able to see something online.

oldsewnsew 02-02-2014 09:52 PM

I see someone finally rescued that green New Home Greyhound off "that auction site". Hopefully it found a good "New Home". I was just thinking of maybe going for it, because it had attachments and a warranty paper stashed in it. Oh well, one things for sure, there's plenty more of where that (temptation) came from!
