Highest bidder on a German hand crank

I won this machine at a local estate sale. I took these pictures at the sale but I'm not picking it up until Sunday. I don't know anything about it, just liked the look of it. Hope I'm not over my head getting this one to sew.

How fun. I think it looks like a Wertheim transverse machine. If I'm reading right by the name on the badge that it would date between 1907 and 1932. http://www.needlebar.org/nbwiki/index.php/Wertheim
I haven't checked all the pictures at http://needlebar.org/cm/thumbnails.php?album=111 but it sure looks like some of those (Not affiliated with links.)

Even if it never sees it is beautiful!

Thank you for the link. It was very helpful.

You may know by now that the shuttle and bobbin should be under the slide to the left off the needle. you pull it left and you may need to turn the crank gently to get it to extend out. Great fun

Lucky you, lots of fun. I see a bit of decoration left. Is it hand painted? Are you thinking of restoring the exterior? If it was mine I would have been thinking about it all night long. Enjoy

Wertheim S64 Update

2 Attachment(s)
I finally got my machine home from the auction warehouse. I believe it is a Wertheim S64. Seems to be the closest match to what I have. There is a metal guard covering the treadle belt that is missing on my machine. Also my machine has a longe skinny thread guide to the bobbin winder that I don't see on any of the other examples.

Wow, what a cool machine! Fiddle base, too. Gotta love that little gnome on the badge! I agree, even if it doesn't sew, it's just a great piece to look at and remember a time gone by.

I opened the slide plate and was lucky to find a boat shaped bobbin case and one bobbin.

Wertheim S64 needle

I took this picture to show the needle that came in the machine. I didn't notice the gnome engraved into the slide plate until I looked at this picture on my computer. What a surprise!
