Hinges and pins for Pfaff 130-6
Hello, I have a vingage Pfaff 130-6 with a plastic case. I would like to make a wooden case for it, well the base part of a case anyway. I will need hinges and pins that would fit. Are most hinges from vintage machines interchangable? Could I use any older hinge sets, say from a Singer or any other common machine? I have not made the box yet, so besides what would fit best in the Pfaff, I would be quite flexible. I have seen no pics of Pfaff hinges, so I don't know what I should be looking for. Thanks to anyone who has some advice.

Welcome cian.
According to https://www.quiltingboard.com/vintag...a-t267854.html and https://www.quiltingboard.com/vintag...e-t289902.html It looks like the Pfaff 130 hinge pins are the same as Singer. I believe that it is the Necchi that has different size holes and pins. There may be others that are different sizes. I saw https://www.instructables.com/id/How...-Machine-Case/ that has instructions about making the hinge pins. I don't remember it saying anything about the different sizes, but I know there are different size hinge pins. I have a plastic case from the 1970s that the hinge pins seemed smaller so it would fit more machines. Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do. |
Does your machine have the hinges already on the machine? If not, just make a box to fit, put small wedges in each corner for the machine to rest on, then put drawer handles on the outside to help PU the box. A friend made mine out of pine and I painted it black to match the machine I have.
