How do you know it's time to scale back on the collecting?

The floor is starting to sag... and it's slab on grade.

:D:D:D I have tried. Even tried Charlee's 12 Step Program. Didn't work. I think I have a sign on my back that says Sewing Machine Addict that attracts needy sewing machines. At least they don't eat or need a litter box.

Sounds like you need to balance the load, by adding weight to unaffected areas. :)

pinkCastleDH 10-14-2012 06:24 AM

Or the vet. Much cheaper - though they don't purr in quite the same way.

When every room in the house and the garage is cluttered to the point you can't walk through. :(

Honestly, it's hard to stop, but the way I see it, is that if I sell a few of the ones I've grown less attached to it frees me up to buy another. That and I avoid any machine in a cabinet. I view a cabinet as a negative now, so the machine must really be something to get me to bring out my wallet. I have a two story house and most of my collection is on the second floor. If the house caves in and you don't hear from me (because the slate pool table is up there too) I lived a good life and died in the proper way:>.

I would probably have my husband or sons add another room, I am that addicted!

LOL! Are you an enabler or what?:o I do want to be able to walk through my house without stumbling on a machine!

AuntieD 10-14-2012 04:26 PM

I consider myself preserving treasures for later generations!!

I agree with Candace completely, they really aren't that big once you toss the cabinets. So....in my experience most of the cabinets are not worth rehab...so...toss them, and make displays for them, then you'll be OK?

Never....................

lovelyl 10-15-2012 04:29 AM

When you don't have room for any more and when the rented storage facilities start to look good.

Well, I'm not really into pain, but I'm sure we'll find places for all of them. We'll just have to get creative! Would it be blasphemous to say we could use them as door stops? :)

When any exit door is blocked!!

ArizonaKAT 10-16-2012 10:10 AM

when you run out of money.

MimiBug123 10-16-2012 12:06 PM

When it looks like your flooring is 3d--as completely covered in machines. Now I'm wondering what will happen to all of my babies when I die. Who will love them????

Suzi 10-16-2012 12:53 PM

I'm there! I have tried several times to run a couple of my collectibles on CraigsList but chickened out at the last minute. I simply do NOT go look at advertised ones anymore ....... that really hurts, ya know? Gotta be a way out of this pickle ..........................

The addict's lament - After just one more. It'll be time to quit after just one more. Like the Greyhound that showed up today. Just one more.... Or maybe the one after that, after all I still need a Pfaff 130. Oh, and I can't forget a Willcox & Gibbs. And a Vertical Feed - can't be done without a Vertical Feed....

What's this "need" a Pfaff 130? Sounds more like "want" to me!

That's not the addict's mindset, though - they need another fix. Sort of like you and chocolate :)

DH tells me that I'm the neediest person he has ever seen. I always justify by telling him that I "need" just one more 66, or 15, or 301 or whatever. I really do need them--I do!!!!
