How often do you find you have to shorten the belt length on your treadle? Is it after you’ve sewn a fair amount of blocks? How do you know it needs shortening, does the treadle act differently? I noticed that if I turn the balance wheel and it takes longer for the treadle to start in motion, I usually have to shortened it. Just curious what others do and experience?

Generally, only a couple of times, once if I stretched the belt before putting on the treadle.
If I am sewing in a cabin without heat, other than a fireplace on the other end of the cabin, and no air-conditioning, I need to adjust regularly.
If I nd to tighten, the belt slips.
