Husqvarna 6440

Not sure if this qualifies as vintage, as it is the newest machine that I have by far, but I am really impressed! When I received it the reverse button was stuck in and the width dial was frozen, with the roll pin inside the dial sheared off. A couple of days of patient cleaning, oiling, and gently working it, and a simple roll pin, and it purrs like a kitten! One question though. Will the G-K cams that came with some of the other 6000 series work in the 6440?
Thanks
Jim

I think they do, all cam cassettes (the round knobs) marked system colormatic will work in the 6000 series. Could the G to K cams be bought separately for some models? If your model have 6 millimeter stitch width it should work ideally, but I don't now for the models that have 4 mm. I just read some of the models taking these cam sets only have 4 millimeter stitch width. It might put the decorative stitches slightly out of balance. I thought all had the same standard stitch width until know.

That looks like a really nice machine saved from oblivion!

I purchased a new 6430 in 1976 for a few bucks under $1,000. It is still my favorite machine. I use one daily, although not the original one.
