There's a site that will tell you info from the serial number, but I don't have the link. Somewhere on here it is shown a few times. Lucky you that someone brought it to you....I can't beg, borrow or buy machines out here....everyone thinks they are solid gold and price them as such!! LOL

Ahh...another Family Rotary. :) Neat decals.

Most info I get on Whites is from here: http://community.webshots.com/user/arachnesobsession, so that's where I tend to direct people. I've also found some info on Whites at Treadle On.

Got a chance to look it over a little, and it appears to be a treadle head with an add on friction drive motor. Very stiff, very dirty, but everything moves with the handwheel. Stitch length regulator is stuck, but she has had no lube yet.

Gosh, you work with some really nice people! Congrats on your 'new' machine.

Well it looks as if you have a new project. The link below is for a serial number dating list. One of these days I will print out each page. Based on the serial number your new girl was made in 1928.

I have one similar to your with the model number of FR2971137 made in 1922. I will see if I have pics and post them for comparison to yours.

Here is my 1922 White Family Rotary from 1922, serial number FR2971137. The motor and wiring is shot and I will eventually put her in a treadle. Just don't want to mess with all of that antique wiring.

You work with some great folks! Neat decals on the machine~

In case you don't know, the White Rotary/Franklin Rotary does just about everything backwards from a Singer. Push the fly wheel back to sew forward.
Very nice machine even a little rough around the edges. You DO work with some nice people to leave that on your desk for you. Hmmmm ..... Is that your raise for this year?!
