Of course you need it. :D
Interesting. A Western Electric with a Hamilton Beach style motor. Did Hamilton Beach make those motors or was it another company? I've seen the same motor badged Singer too.

Hamilton Beach did make those motors and badged them for whoever wanted them. There is a Singer 66 red eye on GW right now set up with one that's marked Singer. Nice looking machine.

Lots of torque in those motors.

I think that's originally a treadle head, the bases drop into the cabinet, and have holes for the belt. The motors are a retrofit. I have a similar setup on my New Home. The neat thing, is the motors are easily reverseable, so can be used with direct drive, or belt drive.

Rodney - Early in my drug store career, I made many malts with machines topped with that Hamilton Beach motor. HB must have been the go-to motor in the early electricity years.

Jim - That makes sense. I see the obvious belt slot now.

Western Electric is a badged name anyway -forget who made them and can't tell for sure from the back side. I think it's a National, just like my little Wards Brunswick

It's 40 miles from my home and if I have an occasion to pass through that city, by chance:D, I'll have to stop and look. It's at an antique store and has been on CL for some time now. I've resisted up to now.
