I finally finished the quilted cover for my 9W-7

A year or so ago when I finished my #2 9W7 cabinet repair I said I was gonna make a quilt with it.

Well, I didn't say how big of a quilt so I decided to make a quilted cover to protect all the work I did on the wood.

To be exact I made a Whacky quilted cover.

The backing is fleece, I didn't get a pic of it. :(

I had fits from the start to the finish on it. I mentioned that in this thread:
{ http://www.quiltingboard.com/vintage...g-t251525.html } about the wrong way bobbin, and then had a very difficult time keeping my quilting lines straight. Granted I was doing it freehand sort of, but they look like an intoxicated snake trying to cross the road.
Nonetheless the cover is finished;

cat tested and approved ... :D

Now I wont be worrying about the wood getting scratched up.

Looks great! Did a great job on the machine also!

JudyTheSewer 08-11-2014 08:26 AM

That is a nice looking cabinet! And, I like the cover too. I can't tell that any of the quilting lines are wavy - it looks really good from here!

Great job on both the treadle and the cover! Your quilting lines look fine to me. Since you pointed them out I looked close and I couldn't see the problem. Your cat doesn't seem to mind either.

Looks great Joe & I assume "cat approved" by that handsome guy/girl !! You did a wonderful job on the cabinet & I completely understand why you would want to protect it.

I love the way you refinished that cabinet. It is simply gorgeous. Did you quilt the cover for it on the treadle machine?

I looked close and can't see any problems with it. I think you did a nice job and it looks like it will do the job! Cat approved too. ;)

Blackberry,

The cover was 100% made and quilted on the treadle. No e-machines were used.

You did a great job Joe, the sewing machine looks terrific and the quilt is perfect, quit criticizing your sewing ! Love your kitty sitting on top too.

All your work is great. Thanks for showing us your "wonky" quilted protector. And your cat is beautiful!

Good looking cover. My favorite kind of quilty thing. Kitty looks happy with it.

Lovely job. Looks like your quilt inspector approves, but needs a matching quilted pillow.

Hey that's cool! I'm mentioned on Facebook and I don't even do Facebook :D . I'll have to check the QB page out when my wife logs in to her FB account.

Joe,

Your machine that you put so much hard work into looks terrific, and unless I draw lines (using a straight edge) I can't sew straight either! And I've been sewing for 50+ years! Great job!

Jeanette,

Thanks.

I figured out that my crooked lines were caused because I didn't get all my squares stitched exactly the same. So since I was following the lines made by the squares, well they got crooked. I guess I need to be more careful and practice more.
