A HUGE thank you goes out to Cathy(Macybaby) and her husband!

They found this, bought this, somehow had the willpower to not clean this, packed this, and shipped this to me safe and sound. (I am using the treadle crate as a desk now!!!! (joking, but dang it was solid....))

As I mentioned in a previous post, the good pics from last night are on Heather phone (mine ran out 5 minutes into the process) so more and better pics will be posted later.

For now, let me present a very early walking foot sewing machine...

As arrived, dirty but with a LOT of promise!!!

Here is the biggest foot pedal in my collection. (you can see the previous record holder (Politype) in the background...)

Here she is clean but with poor lighting.

Stiff as a board, but with a baptism in TriFlow, viola! She spins freely.

I can't wait to get the pics from Heather including pics of the on leg, gear driven bobbin winder.

Very cool, but hey! That's not getting your Armour done! ;):D

So true....

Very Nice---a Low Arm to go with the High Arm.

Nope, Just keeping the Low Arm. The VF1 is most likely going to have to find a new caretaker.

hehehe - the desire NOT to clean this machine was a main motivator to my husband to get it packed up and out the door before I had second thoughts about it. It's a very neat little machine!

But I have to be firm with myself - and it's too "early" for what I want. Saw an early White with a boat shuttle too - and I had to remind myself that it's not what I'm after . . .

Macybaby I was wondering if that was the same machine you posted a while back. That must have taken some willpower to stay in your guidelines for your collection.
Steve congratulations on getting such a nice machine.

I'm going to Steves house. where else could I go to see older machines and have someone who LOVES them tell me all about them with such enthusiam. thanks for sharing Steve.

Rodney - it was more of the "OMG - where am I going to find room?" when I found the "stout" Standard machine that I really wanted that does fit into my collection.

I try hard to pass up machines that don't fit - but once in a while you feel like you just need to rescue one as you know if you don't, it's going to end up owned by someone to use as a table or taken apart and repurposed. I know the dealer who had this, and at least he said "no" to the buyer that only wanted the foot pedal.

I would not have let this machine go to anyone other than another collector, and if SteveH had not mentioned he really wanted one like this, I don't think I would have ever considered parting with it. But once he volunteered the information, it wasn't that hard to make the decision that the best for the machine was in his hands, not mine.
