I ordered a chocolate malt to celebrate... LOL

Okay, I admit it, I put on about 200 miles yesterday taking a road trip to pick up 3 Singers at three different locations. Oh, this addiction MUST stop!

First stop I picked up a 15-91 with cabinet, owners manual for it and for a model 66 plus two boxes of attachments. A VERY nice machine!

Second stop I pickuped up a V.S. 2 (head only & in a little rough condition) but - hey - it's my first fiddle base. Fiddle bases seem to be scarce around here.

Third stop picked up another 15-91 with a beautiful cabinet AND matching stool (stools also are scarce in my area). I have a sister who wants to replicate what our Mom sewed on so between the two 15-91's I figure I can get a really nice setup for her.

That last 15-91 purchase also included a stool FULL of attachments.......

now......

hold your breath.....

I paid $30 for this last 15-91 plus cabinet plus matching stool plus all the attachments..........

and....

wait for it.....

wait for it.....

wait for it....

there was a penguin walking foot included!!!!

These penguin walking feet are really collectible. A penguin walking foot recently sold for $450 on ebay. (No, I'm not selling my penguin!)

Whoo hoo! Time to celebrate!!!!

We stopped at the local ice cream store. I ordered a chocolate malt to celebrate! LOL

PS Here's a video someone else made demonstrating this penguin walking foot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UANYpUSsi4I

I'm slightly more than flat out jealous!! :D Congrats!! :)

PS I forgot to add: The walking foot came in it's original box with an instruction book. The original price of the penguin walking is on the box. It's marked $3.95. :)

Yup, I had the same thing happen:> But, I had to sell it. I needed the money to fund my addiction. LOL:>

I don't blame you for holding on to that walking foot. If it were me that would have been worth the whole trip. That and the chocolate malt.

Never heard of a penguin walking foot. Thanks for the information. I had to stop buying old sewing machines, but am still willing to accept 'donations'!

jljack 03-29-2012 09:58 AM

Good for you!! You deserve that Penguin for all the traveling you did to get those machines to help out your sister. I am happy for you!!

OOOOOOHHHHHHH! I've never seen one in the wild- never heard of one til I found this Board of addicts. If I don't stop coming here I'll be one too! Fantastic finds.

Congratulations! Great finds...thanks for sharing info on the Penguin, I never heard of one before. (Chocolate malts are a celebratory treat for me as well...few and far between, but if I want a splurge, it's at the top of my list!)

How exciting! I never knew such a thing existed until I came here (the penguin). What a lucky find. :)

mcdaniel023 03-30-2012 03:20 AM

How exciting, you did really good!

Rose_P 03-30-2012 12:39 PM

Wow! That is the cutest thing - so worth all that driving. I've never heard of it. You will have to be sure your heirs are aware of the value of that darling little gismo or someday someone else might be thrilled to get it for a song.

Green-eyed monster here. :)
Wouldn't we all like to find a deal like that.

Rumbols 03-30-2012 01:38 PM

Congrats. You definitely earned, the malt I mean. I am green and can't help it. Thanks for the link. Good info.

KatFish 03-30-2012 07:10 PM

Congrats on your super awesome find!!! I'm green with envy.

Congratulations on all the great finds. I'll bet you did a happy dance when you found the penguin walking foot. I haven't had a chocolate malt in ages - it sure sounds yummy. :-)

Think I'm also getting jealous.. I'm in a one bedroom apartment, with no room.. Had to move the dog house under my office table desk in the living room to make room for my singer 66 in a cabinet.. Dog finally got used to it.. I love the old machines.. and am debating whether to take a ride to the north shore of our island to an estate sale which advertised sewing machines.. At least an hour ride.. in the rain.. Ughhh..

O M Gosh !! A friend of mine told me about these penguin foot months ago and quoted that its expensive as well as hard to find! You are so lucky to received one and i hope you can show us later what you made using this foot.

nanna-up-north 04-01-2012 02:57 AM

Oh my!! I'm going to have to start hunting for this. The featherweight is so light...... can you do a large quilt without the whole machine moving around?

SewExtremeSeams 04-01-2012 04:50 AM

Such amazing ingenuity! I wasn't aware of the penguin walking foot before your post. Thanks for educating me!

Heh heh heh I don't know yet - I would say you'd be severely limited by the narrow throat space on the featherweight. The video I posted is not mine.

I recently purchased my featherweight and have only played around with it so far. It joins my other 13 vintage Singers - oops, that number is up to 16 as of this week. :)

BTW I only paid $50 for my featherweight - normal price around here is about $350. :)
