Identifying featherweight 221

I am really confused as how to date this machine. On the underside of the machine is:Simanco U.S.A. 45713. On the motor cover it says Simanco made in Canada 1520. I also have gold letters on the front Under the Singer gold seal of M.R. Model #AH321695. Can anybody help me?

The AH Number is the one. I can't remember where to go to find it. I'm sorry. someone will be along to help you. If you google the number and Singer Sewing Machine it says your machine is 1947 I THINK! LOL

According to ISMACS, your FW is one of 30,000 numbers issued Oct. 27, 1947. The next FW numbers were issued Jan. 22, 1948, so yours was probably actually built in November or December of 1947.

Well, I have worked on hundreds of these machines, and have never seen a Featherweight 221 with the serial number anywhere but on the underside. There are other Singer models that had the serial number on the top right under the badge. Remember Singer made lots of different models and had other two letter, number, number, etc serial number. I don't repair those other models, just 221s. Send a picture for more help.

I believe that machines with “M.R.” on them indicated that they were intended for Central & South American markets, and means Marca Registrada (Trademark).

Marti long ago I went to the Singer site and printed out the dates and keep the pages in my FW 3 ring binder. for dating your FW's I have only 2,but wanted to know their dates. I just checked and AH 316071-346070 - ( according to Singer this date is the day on which vast batches of serial numbers were released to various factories, and the dates given on the chart are the days when these batches were started.) 30,000 were made with the date of October 28 1947- since your serial # falls with in these numbers yours was made it 1947 according to this chart if yours is a FW. Serial numbers beginning with the letter A were made in the U.S.. There is a lot of interesting info on these little darlings on the Singer site. Hope this helps you. But both of mine have the serial number on the bottom under the machine. I haven't seen one with the number on the top of the machine.
