Imperial Threading Help

Hi everyone! I need help threading my old 1965? Imperial sewing machine, I have the manual but i'm afraid its not that detailed. The check spring has me confused, I've look on Youtube however I can't find any machine with a similar spring. I've attached two pictures below and I'm hoping someone can advise which path the thread goes through the spring. As you can see there are two loops in the spring, all the manual says is to 'draw the thread up through the check spring'.

Welcome to QB. Have you tried with it like the above? Maybe try the other way, too. so that after coming from the tension discs, take the thread from front to back under the loop in the center. In other words the opposite direction from the thread path that it is in the above picture. If that doesn't work right, if the check spring is open in the front (the side closest to you) and I would go under that (right filled arrow) and into to the loop (left filled arrow) as indicated below and then finish threaded as indicated by the straight line arrow. You will have to click on the thumbnail to enlarge picture or can right click and open in a new tab or window.

Good luck. There aren't many other ways to try. LOL

Looks like your machine has the provision for threading two threads at the same time. If you only use one thread, then use either the back disk set and the back loop on the spring, or the front disk set and the front loop on the spring. Do not do it like you have in the picture, only use one of the loops on the check spring.

thanks guys! Macy Im pretty sure thats it! There are two loops down by the needle as well, side by side that looks like it would be for two threads. One other question, the shuttle race on this machine is vertical and spins clockwise, with the hook passing behind the needle, why would the manual say to insert the needle flat side to the right, with the needle threaded left to right? If the hook passes behind the needle, shouldn't the needle be threaded front to back? From left to right, the hook is not picking it up the thread. Thanks.
