For some unknown reason, I am assuming that you are looking at a Singer. And if the answer is yes, then did you see this page? http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_mach...l-numbers.html

I already know it’s a a model 27 ... it’s just the machine it has no prefix letter seems to me it’s 1874?
|
What is the number on your Singer & could you show us a picture?
|
I think an 1874 year would be prior to a 27. An IF or an IM. Dougster, you may want to look online over at Victorian Sweat Shop.

If it's a rectangular base VS2 they can look much like a 27 (the model were given the number 27 later on). If it turned out to have one of the early decal sets with flowers and roses, I would not hesitate to buy it :- ) They came with fiddle base too.
I thought Improved Family was the precursor to model 15, and a round bobbin model. |
Janey, thank you for clarifying IF vs. IM.

It has the VS bobbin winder so I’m sure it’s a vs machine. It’s only the machine no cabinet. I don’t need any more machines I cannot sew with well with the ones I have
