**Found Machine**

I'm interested in buying a Singer Featherweight 221 and I thought I would check here before going to Ebay.

Thanks
Ginger

Also check on Shopgoodwill.com. They have them on that auction site quite frequently. Watch the shipping charges, though. Sometimes way high as listed, but if you contact the store they will ship another way cheaper.

There's a site Sew its For sale. You might find one there. :-P :P

There is one listed on the SewItsForSale site now although it's a little pricey (IMO)!

I found one in nice shape on the goodwill site and would be able to pick it up locally but stopped bidding at $400

I bought one on eBay recently....can't say I got a bargain but it's a good little machine.

On shipping, ask that any seller pad the tip of the thread spindle well if it's coming in a case. My seller didn't and the tip of the thread spindle poked a hole in the top of the carrying case. There's only 1/4 inch clearance between the tip of the spindle and the case. DH fixed it and I'm okay with that.

To be sure I don't have a problem again, DH (he's so clever) made a little cap for the spindle...took an small wooden spool and glued a small square of 1/4 inch wood on top. Perfect fit and he even painted it black!

Good luck finding your machine!

When I ship a FW, I put an empty spool of thread on the spindle or just remove the whole spool pin plate so that the new owner can put it back on and not worry about breakage. I pack them very well
so they can withstand what UPS puts packages through. They are dropped 5-6 feet off the end of the conveyor belt. YIKES!

Clearly mine had been handled roughly...it was sent by US Postal Service. Your shipping arrangement is MUCH better!
