Want to adopt to a loving quilter, a Singer 401a with all attachments, etc. Prefer one that is in very good condition, well maintained. The 401a will join the 201 and the 222 and cherished like the other 2 are. Libber

Wish you were closer. I have a really nice one, with the attachments, but in a cabnit. And in WI! Shipping would kill us!

Any plans for a California trip? I have one that's in a cabinet as well.

I have one in Indianapolis - it is in a nice cabinet and has a chair with storage in the seat - manual - attachments and disks - I also have one without a cabinet and no attachments
you can pm if interested

Are you in SOCAL or NOCAL? I will be in SOCAL later this summer. What is the birthdate of yours, do you by any chance know its history?

Are you interested in adopting this out? Selling it? Please give me the details......I live in Wonder Valley (just outside of Sanger) and would be interested in hearing about it.

thanks,

Hi Theressa,
I would like to sell it. I purchased it at a yard sale. It sews great!! The only thing that I can't figure out is the light. It will not come on, but I don't know if it's the bulb or the mechanism, I haven't really taken a good look at it to figure it out. Now, I only purchased the machine and not all the extras for $50 at a yard sale, but as you can see from the picture I've slowly been purchasing some other goodies to go with it as I come across them. I have purchased all the miscellaneous acccesory boxes to acquire the black top hat discs. Some of these are duplicates, there are a couple of #17 which I think are somewhat rare IDK. The buttonholer and monogrammer unfortunately don't have the right plate to play nice with the machine. As for all the feet I'm unsure which ones work with this paticular model. I've only used the general sewing foot that came original with the machine. I'm only selling it because, I have too many other machines and this one and my green 15-91? are just collecting dust and I would like to see them used, because they are wonderful machines.

I'm asking $100. I've attached a couple of pictures of the 401 and the 15-91. If you have any other questions let me know.

The machine looks enticing, where in the country do you live and how much is it going to cost to pack it up and ship it? I'm interested. Libber

Hi Theressa,
I just read a post about your "sewing club" and not sure if you're still looking for donations. But, if you are and are interested, I would be happy to donate both machines to your club. They would have to be picked up as they don't fit in my car, otherwise, I would deliver them. Let me know.
Thanks,
Norma

Impressive machines, very nice!

Hi, its Libber again, I am not a 'collector' I am a user of vintage Singer machines. I have a 201 and a 222 FW. I don't collect, I love to take care of them, keep them in top operating condition and sew with them. I cherish Singers, I have had my 201 since 1957, when my Mom surprised me in 6th grade with my very own machine. I want to 'adopt' for life a really good 401a and after that one joins my family I might think about a 301, which I already know where there are 3 very good ones, they just are not in my 'adoption plan' until the 401a comes to live with me.
