Seriously folks. This is the coolest thing ever. Trust me - even if you don't think it's that cool - it's just because there's too much coolness for your brain to process all in one hit ;)

My new toy. Very excited.

The light is seriously awesome. It has a short lead that is concealed in its base and plugs into the back of the machine. You can then flip open up the top and position the light wherever you need it. I spent ages trying to figure out where things were because it came with no manual. Like, where's the thread spool pin?? ... Hey presto! ..... and then, where do you wind a bobbin?? - Finally noticed the very low key set up on the bottom right hand side of the machine.

Everything goes back into its case compartments just like a little bento box. I'll have more to say on this when I have more time, just wanted to share a few pics! :D

 That IS the ultimate in coolness. So sleek and modern. Love the light.

pocoellie 08-06-2013 06:28 AM

That IS a pretty cool looking machine.

Candace 08-06-2013 06:48 AM

I've never seen one before. I'd love to play with it!

mighty 08-06-2013 06:53 AM

It is very cool!!!!!!!!!!!

mlmack 08-06-2013 08:48 AM

I'd love to have a machine like that. I have a White Rotary 659 15-clone that is made by Juki, that employs a rotary thread take up, but it is not as cool as that machine.

foufymaus 08-06-2013 09:26 AM

This! This is seriously cool! I know my little brother would love a machine like this. He's beginning to get in sewing and he loves japanese things.

girliegirl 08-06-2013 10:22 AM

That looks like a sewing machine from STAR WARS! did you steal it from the Storm Troopers!? awesome

Ha! That's it!!! .... I think you've hit the nail on the head there. I couldn't work out what it reminded me of most, but I think Star Wars is pretty darn close :)

Does he speak Japanese too? - I'm sure he could get one if he did. The only others I've found online have been blogged about by Japanese techs/enthusiasts. I have contacted a couple in the hope that one might share a manual, but it's hard to know if they either speak english or could be bothered replying. Some of them may have even been for sale but I couldn't tell as I can't read Kanji :(

foufymaus 08-06-2013 02:22 PM

He doesnt speak it but can slowly figure out words by reading and phoenetically. Lol

tessagin 08-06-2013 02:25 PM

Yep! COOOL!

Congrat's on your new cool machine!

Well he's doing better than me!

Thanks everyone else for your kind words. I am looking forward to a weekend of bonding with my new friend :)

Really awesome! I love the sleek design. Wish they'd make this today.

If they did it'd be 90% cheap plastic, made (in China) to last one day over 12 months, and wouldn't make a good stitch. The light bulb would break the first week and the surround would break when you were replacing it: Both of which would be exempt from warranty :(

dollycaswell 08-09-2013 12:14 PM

Do you have any idea how old it is? I've found the Juki America website (www.jukihome.com)and their phone contact number is area code 305 594 0059. They have a lot of manuals available for download there, however, they don't have the H ZL 11. I'm curious too, and I think it's a gorgeous machine.

hamiltonguy 08-21-2014 07:08 AM

I just found one of these as well. Super cool styling as everyone else has mentioned. I can't for the life of me figure out how to thread it and especially the bobbin! Can you advise me?

I wish mine had the lamp...the case shows a spot to put "accessories". I imagine that this is a box of feet and stuff. Did yours come with the box as well? If if did, what came in it?

I know this is an old thread, but I'm hoping someone will see it.

Rodney 08-21-2014 11:12 AM

I didn't notice the "2013" part of the date at first. I thought the thread was only a week or so old and that I'd managed to miss it somehow.
I'd like to see more info on the machine like approximate year(s) of manufacture. I love my old black machines but the styling is pretty cool on that one. 1970s maybe? It looks like it would be right at home in a room with a plastic egg chair, a glass-topped pedestal table and a seriously thick white fake fur rug.

Hi Guy

I'm still here ;) ... I LOVE this machine. My belt's slipping a little so I'm about to take it for a service. It's next on my list. It has the nicest little ZZ.

When I get home I'll grab it out and take some more detailed pics of threading and see if there are any other identifying markers. I did take it to show my LSMG and he had never seen anything like it. I never had any response to the email I sent a repairer in Japan who blogged about his. I was hoping to find a manual.

Mine didn't come with the accessories box unfortunately. I went back to the seller who was interstate and asked them where they got it from and they said they found it in an op-shop/thrift store and never used it, it was just a 'cool thing' they found. So no chance of tracing back to the original owner :(

Wherabouts are you located? Are you in the US or Australia?

Cheers, Amelia

Cari-in-Oly 08-22-2014 11:23 PM

That is almost the ultimate in cool to me. I say almost for me because wait until you see my ultimate Brother. Not like yours but still.........
Any how, did you ever figure out how old it is? I only ask because Juki still numbers their models with the same HZL--- system. My cute little pink/gray/white Juki is last years HZL27D.

hamiltonguy 08-29-2014 01:56 PM

Hi Amelia...I live in Canada. I still haven't figured out how to thread the bobbing properly. I think maybe something is missing on mine. I've looked hi and low for detailed pictures on the web of the "bobbin case", but they look slightly different that mine. If you do get around to some more pictures...can you take one of the bobbin area and how you have been threading it!

Are you still looking for an instruction book for this machine? I just bought one (it hasn't been delivered yet) and it has the instruction book.

miriam 10-03-2015 01:50 AM

I would love to see pics of this machine's details and innards.

One of these just sold on GW for 460.00. Don't know if this is good or bad. Never had saw one before so kept an eye on it.

MaryTG 10-03-2015 11:18 AM

Found this by googling (text in Japanese)

I thought that, too but all that plastic is in strange places!!!

MaryTG 10-03-2015 12:12 PM

It kind of looks to me as if the plastic/nylon parts are located anyplace that on a metal machine you would oil. This must be one of the machines that does not provide oiling locations or instructions other than have it serviced.

My Juki TL2010Q has about as many oil locations as my vintage machines and I believe is primarily aluminum, so it is quite different from this machine

Can anyone kindly recomend which bobbins can be used on the machine, or if anyone has a bobbin part number that would be great. I found my Juki HZ-11 on eBay and it sews pretty good but it only came w/ one bobbin.
All the best
Daniel
