Just got a phone call...I own a 301a.
Buddy of mine just called me from a garage sale. I guess I now own a mocha 301a with a cabinet and a"bunch" of attachments. I will pick it up tonight and see what I have. Hopefully get some pictures up. I take it the 301's are popular? It is really newer than what I am into, hope it is nice.

The 301's are a great machine! They call it the "Featherweight's Big Sister". it is portable, as it has a carrying handle on top. Sews great stitches! I am almost jealous that you got a bunch of attachments! I need to find some for myself. Please post pics for us! :)

he mentioned a button holler and a zig zig er manual, all in original boxes. Kinda excited to see it. I don't know anything about the cabinet. Supposedly it came from a quilter that got a new wonder machine and gave this one to a young student to sell at a yard sale to make some money with. I owe him 60 bucks, hope that is a fair price.

score-great machine

The 301 is a great machine and they are starting to take off like the Featherweights in price. To me it would be the machine to own over the FW because it can do so much more and is a full size machine. Either way you scored on this deal and I know you will love it, trust me I have had 6 or 7 of them ;)

I have a tan 301 in a trapizod cabinet and 2- 301a. One came in the straw case and the other came in a really nice desk type cabinet. I love them all and I'm following another one, so... LOL And Yes.. $60 is a great price.

Yes M'dear....you scored big! :) Good decision to tell your friend "Yes!" Even if you were to decide not to keep the machine, I'm pretty sure you can flip it for more than what you paid for it...it looks really nice! Congrats! (And I think you'll love it...I love the one I just got, and for the most part, I prefer my treadles) |

ok I am home now, and here are some pictures of my homely new girl.
this is kinda a over view: and here is the Collection of stuff it came with: i got the original manual for the machine and all of the accessories, the cord and foot pedal are in great shape, the light works and I can find no chips or dings on her any where. She is quiet tight and lovely. Pretty pleased ( though she would be better in black) the only thing that seems to be missing is the rolled hem foot. The ruffler, binder, edge stitcher, adjustable hem and a gathering foot are all in the box a few more picture in my album "301a Mocha" |
Congratulations! You will really enjoy sewing with the 301. And she isn't homely - she will grow on you. Nice bunch of attachments you have there. I don't have any of those goodies - but did buy a quarter inch foot and walking foot. Enjoy your new additions.

AWWWWWWWW!!!!!
She is soooo pretty. J J |
You are going to enjoy your machine so much...they're as much a workhorse as the FW. I got mine at a yard sale too. That's too much fun finding them and trying to stay calm. I should have been an actress. Have you dated and named it yet? Congrats on a great find. Oh, and in case you don't know it....this is a slant machine. Your attachments are specially made....can't be used on other machines unless they're slant too.
|
Super Score. If I found a 301a like yours I would be making room for it, LOL
|
you have the extra cams for the zigzag attachment......do you have the extra ones for the button hole attachment
check which foot is on the machine now...hard to tell from the picture but that could be your rolled hem foot you now have the best machine ever made ( my opinion ) my 301A sends luv & hugs |
Nice one! I got a Light Beige and Oyster White 301A recently. She was dusty and clogged with lint, but even so she sewed well enough that I made an offer. Now that she's been tuned up and serviced, she sews perfectly. My daughters have been sewing stuffed toys, and I made my first ever quilt block.
$60 is a steal for the machine plus all the attachments. |
It's beautiful and I have one just like it - and a black one, too!
|
great for you
Congratulations tool |
Lucky you. I have 2 and love them both. It is my go-to machine.
|
I have four 301's and love them. I'm always on the lookout for one, but it's very difficult to find them where I live.
|
a question was asked about extra cams for the button hole for. Well there is on installed in it, four more in the plastic box and at least one in a separate box. So that is at least six, more than I will likely ever use.
|
I really enjoy sewing with my 301. It take it to quilt club. I hope you enjoy your new friend, too!
|
The more you get to know her, the more lovely you will think she is! The 301 - Ah what a great machine!
|
Still no name yet, but I did look up her serial number. She was born in 1951.
|
Enjoy your 301A. I love mine.
|
U bet thats a good price! I had to pay $116 for mine on ebay (it also included shipping)
|
That's half of what I paid for mine and worth every dime, too.
|
1951 is the year I was born.
Enjoy her for many years Rose Mary |
Great buy! I enjoy my 301s so much. She looks in great shape and soooo many goodies!
