I have had this old Singer treadle machine sitting around for years. I have a super nice new reg machine so really thought this would just be there to keep and pass on. Today I decided to open it up and dust and clean a little. It is so pretty so now I am going to leave it open and on display. But the best part is while hubby was looking for a belt to order we discovered it was made by Singer in Nov 1910...............never thought it was that old. So new belt and needles on the way thanks to the Singer website------and no postage!

I have one that has sat around folded up for years. After getting active on this board I decided to open it up and I love having it there just for decoration and maybe I'll even try sewing on it someday. Mine is a 1923 model. Have fun with yours!

Uh...oh!! You have caught the bug  . These old machines are like "Lays" potato chips....you can't have just one

I hope you will post some pictures of it.

I have my grandmothers treadle, not sure how old it is. How did you find out the age of your treadle??

You can find out the model and manufacture date of a Singer machine by looking up the serial number on this site:

Sort of knew I should have posted pic....not sure about the model....will try to look that up. And I have to tell you I would never have gotten interested had I not joined this board. My mom has another one and I told her to put it her will that I get it.

Decals are "Sphinx". May be a model 27. I don't see a check spring on your tension.

I do beleive the check spring is there---there is a little something there anyway. May not be called that---I am clueless about old machines.
