Just as I promised my wife...this Zundapp came up

I just told my wife I don't have a problem - I can quit... just need to get the 431g, the Pfaffs 31 and 130 and the two new ones over there sorted and lined up with the others - oh, those two? they are just part machines, I'll throw them away afterwards and get everything tidied up and out of the way, you'll see, honey - no more machines, I promise!

And this came up. Can't upload screen dumps, hope the url works

This is going to get expensive. App. $175 for the machine is one thing (I have it on hold) but a bunch of flowers and cooking dinner isn't going to get me out of this one.

What do you think of the machine?

sewbeadit 12-19-2015 10:47 PM

That is what we all say, did she believe you?lol There always seems to be another one I have to have lurking around waiting for me. One thing I can say, that is a beauty! I had just seen one of those somewhere on the web but it wasn't as pretty as this one! Did you get it yet? Sounds like you are going to have to think of something special, how about chocolate?:D

Cari-in-Oly 12-19-2015 11:06 PM

Yep, I think you're going to be in the dog house but that machine looks like it will be worth it. That is a very cool one. I'm in the dog house too, so you'll have company. I'm supposed to be getting rid of machines for an upcoming move into a new house. Nobody wants to help me move 50+ sewing machines. Today I was watching an auction to be sure I didn't get out bid at the last minute and got caught. My son is not happy with me.

I would be in the dog house but I would take the machine with me...

It's such a pretty green machine. Tell her it could be worse, you could collect and restore antique cars like my DH does!!

Give her a gift certificate or card or flat out cash to do with what she wants. Works for my husband.

I love everything about that one! I think that one might be worth the argument. Just don't make a habit of it and you should be fine.

It's very cool but too rich for my blood! I stick with the deals and steals, they are easier to "approve" and keep me out of the dog house!

Annaquilts 12-20-2015 08:50 AM

Oh yes you got to get it! It is GREEN!!!!! I am a sucker for all green machines. why do you have to quit?

ManiacQuilter2 12-20-2015 08:52 AM

Be sure to throw a box of her favorite chocolates. That always worked great on me!

Well folks, that taught me a sour lesson - never brag in advance. This was a shop advertising on a web market, there was no direct "buy" button. The ad came up around 5 am, I put in my reservation before 7. I never heard anything, confirmed my buy around 9. The shop never checked the web messages, and sold the machine during the day. I cick myself for not following up for a confirmation, but it's Sunday and I thought that's why they didn't answer.

Well, no doghouse this time. I actually saved a lot of money. But all in all - Aaaaaarrrrghhhhh!

Macybaby 12-20-2015 10:58 AM

bummer - that was one sweet looking machine! We all have tales about "the one that got away".

Rodney 12-21-2015 06:17 PM

Don't worry. There will be others.

So sorry to hear that, I know how disappointing it can be.

tenngal 12-24-2015 09:15 AM

Interesting, I've never seen one but I'd sure take a chance on it. Good luck!

zozee 12-25-2015 01:42 PM

I've never seen one like it. It's a great peridot green in what looks like wonderful condition. As for appeasing your wife, thank her for putting up with your passion for machines, but remind her it can't compare to your passion for HER (and hope she believes you). Then take her out to dinner and hand her a gift card to her favorite place (shopping, spa, whatever). She'll forgive you and might even encourage the next binge.

Sewnoma 12-29-2015 03:52 PM

Oh bummer, sorry it got away!

Maybe take the wife out anyway, get yourself a positive balance of brownie points for "next time"... ;-)
