Just inherited this....

My mother in law made a quilt for each of her grandkids on this machine. The last one she made was for my daughter almost 23 years ago, and I still have it in the closet. I'm not sure how old this machine is, but I know it was made in Cleveland, OH. It has a list of patent numbers on the stitching plate, and a serial number attached to it. I found the "carry box" to be just as interesting. It looks like it was hand made out of wood, and covered in a heavy fabric and something that looks like alligator skin. Does anyone know how I can find out more about this little beauty?

What a treasure! Love the decals.

She is very pretty!!

I don't remember who owns the White name these days. I do know they have pretty good records and can probably tell you when it was made if you call with the serial #. I'm guessing the case is probably from the 40s or 50s and probably isn't original to the machine.
Very pretty machine. Rodney |
What a wonderful inheritance!

I just got the same machine and case. It's much larger and heavier than my others. sews a sweet stitch. ENJOY!

A truly lovely set of twins!

I love the look of this machine. Mine originally had a motor - but I'm going to treadle her.

I have had a White treadle base for 25years under my chopsaw. It may be time to pull it out and put it to better use!!

That is so cool! Thank you for posting the pics. I love the little light yours has... mine has an outlet for a light, but not the actual light. The case for yours is really nice too. Love the alligator look. I did find out that the machine I have was made in 1912. She still sews a perfect stitch. I sew a lot, so my "other" machine is new, huge, and does a bunch of stuff. BUT, for personality, the White machine has it! I think I may keep it on display in my sewing room. They must be made of steel or cast iron, it's so heavy!

What is the serial number? Have one that looks just like yours, but I bought it at and estate sale. But not your great history. |
Beautiful! Agree! What a great inheritance!

It is a beautiful sewing machine and perhaps best of all: you know all about its wonderful history!

AZNance, this is a White FR model, if you email the serial number to [email protected] they will date it for you. I have one just like it that I am in the middle of refurbishing.
